Week Five Gilda Davidian & Sidonie Loiseleux
Sidonie Loiseleux: The natural talent you'd like to be gifted with. Gilda Davidian: I wish I could dance – like really, really dance. Like jaw-droppingly amazing other-worldly kind of superpower dance. I also wish I could write books. SL: Your favorite bird. GD: As many of my friends (and people who have visited my home) know, I love birds of all kinds. It's more about flight than species for me, but if I absolutely had to narrow it down, I have to say that I am most fond of little, colorful birds with fat heads. SL: Your favorite occupation. GD: Can I pick more than one? Fairy godmothers, astronauts, and midwives. But I think anyone who is doing what they love to do AND making a living doing it has it pretty damn good. SL: What you hate the most. GD: Irresolvable situations; being lied to; waiting. I hate waiting. SL: How does your love of reading translate into your photographic practice? GD: I am deeply inspired by literature - through storytelling - and am fueled by the chasm between written and visual language. I am interested in the use of imagery as metaphor and think of my photographs as short stories, turned inside out. |

Gilda Davidian: Your favorite food and drink. Sidonie Loiseleux: Raspberries, tomatoes, cheese, shellfish, croissant, pain au chocolat, blanquette de veau, bœuf bourguignon, macarons, bread, cherries, figs, citrus…I'll stop here because if I continue, the list will be too long. In other words, I do not like brain and tongue. My favorite drink is a glass of good red Burgandy. GD: Your favorite color and flower. SL: My favorite color at the moment is yellow. Favorite flowers are peonies and lilacs for their smell, which reminds me of where I grew up. SL: Being too tolerant. Giving too much of my time to little things, which can become distractions, instead of focusing on what's important. GD: Your favorite occupation. SL: To sit at a terrace of a coffee place in Paris during the summer with my friends, talking about everything and watching (and commenting on) people passing by. GD: Where do you turn to for inspiration in your practice?
